Consider this: if lawmakers were spending their own money, would America still be going broke? Our national debt is expected to reach $13.6 trillion this year. This is unacceptable. Just like families and businesses across America, Members of Congress need to be accountable for their fiscal decisions.
I have introduced a bill that would directly tie Members’ salaries to the growth in government spending with one simple premise – the more they spend, the less they make.
The Congressional Accountability Pay (CAP) Act, H.R. 4681, would require a decrease in the rate of pay for each Member of Congress by a specified percentage if outlays for any fiscal year are greater than outlays for the preceding fiscal year.
It is time Congress had a personal stake in their spending decisions.

Congressman Forbes:
I really hope this bill passes.
Please continue to fight against the carefree spending habits of some in our government.
I value the efforts you are trying to make in curbing our debt crisis. I really do not want my daughters' generation to inherit this huge mess, nor do I want China to bypass us in 2016. Please try to push for China to have to behave in a fair and ethical business manner (like the rest of us).
Sincerely,
Jennifer
