Democrats in the House are now two months overdue in producing a budget for the United States government. And, despite the fact that national debt has climbed past $13 trillion, and that bailout after bailout have failed, the President just this weekend called for another $50 billion bailout for state and local governments.
I know you know that our nation is at a critical point. For every dollar Washington spends, it borrows 43 cents. Nearly half of Americans pay no income taxes. And, for those that do, Washington now holds $118,000 in debt per taxpayer. With deficits at record levels, within years Americans will be paying more in interest on our national debt than we spend on our national defense. We just cannot continue on this path.
I am one of only 17 Members of Congress to vote against every bailout under the Bush and Obama Administrations. I believe we must constitutionally mandate a balanced budget. I've introduced legislation to drastically cut spending in Washington and to tie Member salaries to government spending. But, I need your support to stay in Congress.
On June 30th my campaign faces a critical fundraising deadline. Please consider donating $500, $250, $100 or $75 to my campaign as we prepare for our election this year. No gift is too small. Individuals that give $50 or $25 a month form a powerful financial support network for the work I am doing in Congress.
